This project focuses on reinterpreting a personal experience I had at Philadelphia's Race Street Pier into my own pier design. The project proposed we design a pier that too could cause it's viewers to engadge in multiple experiences. My design focuses on using many repetitious elements to guide circulation on the pier vertically towards different vantage points. Another concept my design focuses on is the human perception of what is solid and what is void.
For this collage we were put into groups and instructed to abstractly represent some sort of action. This piece represents the movement through sound and hand that a piano player creates when playing music.
These diagrammatic plans and sections look at the collage and extract different conditions. To make it more abstract these conditions that are seen as plan on the collage are then made three-dimensional objects in section.
These diagrams break down the experiences I had at Race Street Pier in Philadelphia.
This study model is based off the conditions extracted from the group collage.
